Here is my need:
Primary use is to drag/groom a runway (100 x 1500') area and keep smooth for airplane use. Terrain is mostly flat and altitude is ~1500' above sea level.
Secondary use would be property patrol and maintenance.
Third level of use would be recreational. (Ice fishing, hunting, etc.)
I think most snowcats would be way overkill with the amount of snow we get in Wisconsin (deepest snow would maybe be 30-40") and the small area I'm dealing with. Any snowmobile I've ever seen would not tolerate this type of use without burning drive belts and constantly getting stuck.
Short of building something from scratch, does anyone have a recommendations or ideas? (My budget would not be unlimited, either. EG - I'm cheap in the extreme.)
