Can someone help me with this fan motor part number for my 1450 or direct me to the right thread? I’ve searched the Forum ...it seems like I’ve seen this somewhere.

Thanks,

Do you need CW or CCW rotation? I’ve got either if you want one?

I’m not sure how to tell. The only mark I see is a capital Y on the shaft end.I just found the plastic fan unattached and sitting on the bottom. It looks like it’s broken. Here’s a look at the 2-position switch as well I need to replace. The blower is currently wired direct and works (clatters) all the time. Thanks for the help.

What are the dimensions of motor body? (Guessing 3"?) Is the shaft 1/4" or 5/16"? Length? If the motor still operates, tap it to power w/ the shaft pointed at you for rotation (CW/CCW)

Wheel diameter/height? Center plate appears to be in the middle?

Motor body is 3” diameter and 5.5” long
Shaft is 5/16” and 1.5 “ long
Plastic fan wheel is 3.25” wide and 4.5” diameter. Appears broken and badly repaired.

Of course now that it’s out I can’t get it to move. Bumped it with 12v and I just get sparks at the leads.

Here’s a picture including the mounting plate. Kind of looks homemade...

Thanks very much,

The body is the ground. Orange high speed. Red low.

I have two of those wheels coming in from Memphis but won't be here until Friday. Diameter is correct, would have to wait to verify the height. But I believe it's the same. The plate has clip points on each side, so it can work with CW/CCW motor depending on how its flipped.

It’s a CW motor and both Hi and Low work with no bad noises. Thanks for the heads up. Please let me know about the fan. I’ll really appreciate it.
Thanks very much.

I'll let you know Friday (assuming all of the right connections get made)

I replaced my heater switches. These still work if you want one. They are 3 position switches. Off-on-on. The one with the resistor only works in one position though. The resistor is burned out. The other one used an external resistor, which was burned out. My fans have 1 speed motors.

I'm betting 3 3/8" width will fit. PM me your address.

I’m not sure if this is the original unit. It looks like it’s pretty banged up. The hose connectors are 1/2” from the metal bulkhead and both hoses were kinked. Not sure if someone just changed the heater core, or how many hours it would take in junkyards looking at 70s Ford heaters to figure it out what this is. I removed a little sheet metal to access the old clamps. I’m using most of this area to mount my new trans cooler so I’ll seal it up.

You might be able to cut the straights off and solder some 90°s on there to help keep your hoses straight to help them from being kinked...

Hi Dave, thanks for the fan!! It’s a match. I’ll PM you.
In this configuration, I need a motor with a shaft of about 2 1/2 to 3” to install the clip. The motor mounting plate is homemade so I don’t know where this motor came from.

We done. I went Fred Flintstone on this on and got it out. It looks like a Dayton unit that someone rotated 90 and scabbed in.

Could you post up a pic of the wheels side by side? Not sure how it's not fitting if they are the same

The cage fans are the same. However, I need a 3” motor shaft to reach to the center of this style of cage. The previous goofball just glued the cage fan to the very end of the shaft because the 1.5” shaft wasn’t long enough to engage.
I found this unit that has a type of fan that could work. It looks like it’s good on a 1.5” long motor shaft.

The unit you show above "may" work, but it doesn't list the width and diameter. If it isn't filling that space, it's not effectively moving the air.

Red Dot used to have a blower wheel that had the plate mounted at the 1/3rd point instead of center. That appears to have been completely discontinued. A wheel that has an end plate mount set up (single inlet) would work. Finding the correct size could be a PITA. Longer shaft motors will also be difficult in that size.

Also, typically that mounting plate would have a dished in mounting surface that would give you the distance you are looking for. The flat plate is keeping the two from mating properly.

This one is really close. I called Dynacorn and they don’t have one in the warehouse or tech info at all. :smileywac
My mounting holes are 4.75” c to c. I might get brave and order this and see if I can use/adapt.

This box has an offset mount so I’m hopeful it might be in the ballpark.
Thanks again Dave.

Got the area cleaned up and painted and ready to start assembling. I still need a couple formed 90s from Cummins to hook up the lines.....hope they shipped. Hope to get the radiator back next week.
I ordered the Bronco heater blower unit and ask you all to cross any free digits for good luck with the fit.
I’m waiting for some Rustoleum rusty metal primer for the floors and found some beefy 1/2” thick rubber entry mat material for mats.
Here’s a picture of my new trans cooler that moving in next door to the heater.

If I’m good, and I scrub parts REALLY well in the slop sink, the head mechanic lets me use the Bosch parts cleaner.

Got my floors painted with rusty metal primer, installed the heater sans blower, and got my radiator back in. It looks a lot better without the trans cooler blocking most of its flow. The Cummins elbows work great. I’m convinced this isn’t the stock heater core but it will work fine. The lines stick out a bit, but it’s easy to access now and will be covered.
The trans cooler fan takes 19 amps to start so I got a new 100 amp alternator. I’m installing a Pertronix unit. I got a NOS New Holland (Motorcraft) vacuum advance unit from Premier Equipment in Huron S.D. I ordered it thru Messicks. They didn’t have one but they referred me to Premier who had one left from who knows when. My non-emission distributor, D3JF 12727 BA, is only listed for the LSG 633.
