I just did a search for aluminum dinghy; generally the sites that come up are au sites. Is aluminum used much in the USA for small boats? Or am I just using the wrong terminology in my search?

Aluminum is commonly used for small boats here, but the term dinghy isn't for some reason. From what I can tell your dinghy is a v-hull? I would search for v-hull or v-bow. If a flat-bottom I would search for that or "jon-boat".

AFAIK, a "dinghy" in North America is typically referring to a little rubber/plastic boat. Not Aluminum.
