Tucker 442 For Sale PA Look at track

Wow, that has some serious issues with that 'rebuilt' front track. The lower front rollers slipped over the rail and are against the fiberglass pontoon. It also appears to have the hole punched through the front bottom where there was a gap in the rail. It almost appears that this pontoon was modified to take up the slack in the track, notice the white/silver painted surfaces on the inside of the rollers. That would have been a great candidate for the 30 grouser club. I don't feel so bad about the condition of mine after seeing that.

Pretty sure those are steel pontoons.

Curious about the bump out on the side maybe that is the flux capacitor? What do you think the snorkel is for. Exhaust looks like it goes under cab and heads out back.

Did steel pontoons have bolt on rails and adjusters on both ends? Hard to tell on the front but that's what it looks like on the rear. Snorkel pointed forward defeats the purpose if he is trying to keep the blowing powder out. Not sure about the bump out on the side, not sure what it has for a motor but it must be a 6 with that single chrome stack.

Definitely steel 'toons w/ adjusters. I'm thinking it's the camera angle (and jumped rollers) that are hiding the one on the front nose. They must have been pretty loose to get the rollers to jump off the top rail. :hammer: There must be some serious forces at work to have that many jumped rollers, and still have the one circled in the pic pulled up like that.

No powder to fight off in Pennsylvania- That snorkel is there to feed the fresh cold air charge to the massive turbo trying to poke itself out thru the side of the engine panel! That's what the mystery bump is!:yum: All good for forcing out 375HP. :wow:

But, everyone has missed the reason for the $24k price tag. It's the weight saving Prototype L/H Rear Pontoon. Apparently, during his 'rebuild', he deemed the pontoons just too damned heavy. So, what better way to shave weight than to just skip welding the skin back on the pontoon. After all, it's on the trailing edge, so it won't pack itself full of snow. Very innovative.
