New motorcycles

Last year I had to sell my 1986 GoldWing so that I could buy a pickup to use to work at the farm I'm rebuilding. Just recently I found this really nice well cared for 1987 GoldWing with 50K on it for $3500.00. It has new tires, brakes, battery, timing belts, seat and fork seals. The owner has moved on to a rest home and wanted to part with it. The pictures do not do it justice as it has sat in storage for the last three years and is really dirty. I need to wash it off before I can polish it up.

Then on thursday I found this 1981 CX500 that didn't run for $150.00. It has been in a guys basement since 1993 and has 2942 miles on it. The tires are original and are dry rotted. I rebuilt the carbs on it yesterday. I replaced the battery and need to replace the fork seals and add a set of mirrors. The chrome is slightly pitted as it should be for a 25 year old bike. This one is a blast to ride around on. I've only been out in my well manucured fields with it and the road out to the farm. I should have cleaned the dirt off the tires before I took the pictures of it today.

Nice looking bikes, the 500 is a helluva deal.

Time to update that posting. The 1987 was sold last August for $4500.00. I then bought this 1994 GL1500 for $4500.00 two days later. It came from the estate of a Florida cancer victim. His sons had the bike up in NH. and couldn't seem to get it running right. The carbs were plugged up from sitting too long. The bike had 30K on it when I bought it. One nice option is the $700.00 Travelcade seat with a built in back rest. I have the backrest for it in the rear luggage compartment. The CX500 was sold for $1500 in July to a youngster for his first bike. The money was used to buy this 2004 Honda Rebel for my daughter for her first bike. She thought her friend and I were fixing up a 1987 Rebel for her while she was away on a scientific research project in Alaska for school in July. She came home to find this Rebel in our garage waiting for her. The Rebel had 792 miles on it. We ended up spending $550.00 total for the Rebel.

Back in April I traded this other motorcycle to get my daughters friend a Honda Rebel. The bike is a 1985 Suzuki GS700ES that I bought for $250.00. The motor was toasted. The young kid that owned it over revved it by downshifting it into second gear when it was wound out in third gear. He lost two valves in the process. I put a used motor in it that I found locally for $100.00. We traded this Suzuki and $500.00 for the 2005 Honda Rebel. Total cost for the Rebel was $850.00. Now the two young ladies each have their own Rebel to ride.
