Boondocking around Huntington Lake

Maybe not the best description but it was definitely a challenge. Last weekend some old friends came up to do some Tucker fun.

We had the trip planned for quite some time. Happened to fall on a pretty good storm weekend. Amazing what some wind and good snow can do. 30 foot high snow mounds that appeared to be part of the mountain were in fact just snow.

This area offers the opportunity to enjoy the "back country" while still never very far away from safe zones and cell phone service. Note: just read about the cat falling through the ice into the lake. Though we are in proximity of the water, this time of year you can maneuver on the lake bottom down to water line which maintains a distinct terrain change along with its feeders.

The trip to travel took 15.5 hours to navigate approximately 14 miles of snowmobile trail. We did make a couple of stops. One at Lakeshore for lunch and a second at China Peak for dinner. We had to cut on ramp size pathways at one point. We were actually cutting trail most of the time. Snow so deep that the Tucker 2000 would have to back up every 25 feet or so on flat ground and get another run at it.

Come time to head home Highway 168 was shut down. Tow trucks stuck etc.

Anyway, was a great experience but was work. Next trip will be a little more moderate and relaxing...

The last photo is the path we had to clear to continue on. This came up several times.

Couple more. Trying to figure out how to upload a couple of the videos. These are of Hwy 168, while it was shut down.
