Snow Trac boogie jack

I needed to replace a couple of boogie wheels before I could remove #599 ST that I just purchased from the trailer. I knew of the lever that was posted but one of the boogies was beside the fender so the lever would not work. Kirk told me Jim had designed a jack using an old VW jack. Before I could see some pictures of the jack I grabbed a spare VW bus jack and engineered it fit. It works great, I can raise a boogie wheel using two fingers! I did have to shorten the length and weld a foot on the bottom and a hook on the arm. The hex head to raise the jack is the same size as the boogie wheel bolt.

I don't think you can get much better than that.
now find a good place to store it.
really easy work while it is on the trailer. I hope you rim is ok.

Thanks Jim, after all it was your idea that started this. But I didn't know you were using a car jack, all I had was the bus jack which works well.

I am also going to use your idea of solid boogie wheels so if the rim is damaged it shouldn't be a problem. I will be ordering them shortly for both of my ST's, 28 in total!

I don't think mine would have worked in that position.

Jim, what size VW engine are you hand cranking? My engine doesn't have the crank nut on it but I can get one. I wonder if a 1600 could be hand cranked?

1600 starts easily with a crank if it is tuned up good. snow trac's came with hand cranks and the last ones built had 1600 in them.
I have the 1600 in mine.
