Cain Accuser Changes Mind Again About Going Public

So much for the smear campaign, hopefully this will put an end to this BS. :glare:

One of the women who accused presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment in 1999 has decided to go silent again, canceling plans to hold a joint news conference with another Cain accuser.
Karen Kraushaar, 55, who worked with Cain at the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990s, has publicly wrestled with the idea of releasing additional details about her harassment, which she has only described as a series of objectionable actions and statements.
She had agreed to appear at a news conference this week, but changed her mind. In a statement issued through her attorney on Thursday night, Kraushaar said she decided to make no further comment because her calls have not been returned to two other women who she believed had accused Cain of harassment.
Cain has categorically denied the sexual harassment allegations.
Joel P. Bennett issued the statement for his client. It reads: “For several days, my client, Karen Kraushaar, has been trying to contact the other two women who were subjected to sexual harassment by Herman Cain while he was the CEO of the National Restaurant Association. Despite diligent efforts, she has not heard from these two women.
“Ms. Kraushaar has decided not to hold a press conference unless and until the other women come forward and wish to participate,” the statement said. “She will have no further comment until that time and she and I will not be granting any interviews to the media before any such press conference.”
Gloria Allred, attorney for Sharon Bialek, who has accused Cain of a rough sexual advance when she asked him for a job, had said earlier in the day that an agreement had been made between Kraushaar and Bialek to hold a joint news conference. However, Allred said she did not expect a news conference to occur until next week. Late in the day, Allred indicated there had been a change and she referred calls to Bennett.
“Ms. Kraushaar thanks Gloria Allred and Sharon Bialek for their willingness to appear with her,” Bennett said, “but believes it would be more meaningful to have all four women present and participating.”
Kraushaar has vacillated about whether to go public since the allegations were first aired, without naming her, in Politico. She sought and received permission from the National Restaurant Association, which confirmed the complaint, but she balked at making her name public and issued her statement through Bennett without releasing her name on Friday.
Her name was known to news organizations, but she had asked the media not to make her name public to protect her privacy. Most agreed until The Daily published her name this week after Bialek went public on Monday. Then, she said she wanted to hold a joint news conference with all of the Cain accusers. Allred agreed.
The publication of her name exposed Kraushaar to a wave of publicity and inquiries from the media that, she said on Wednesday, made it difficult for her to continue to perform her duties as a communications specialist at the Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration. It also brought unwanted scrutiny from the Associated Press, which publicized another complaint regarding unfair treatment at the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Well, I see the latest CBS poll this morning still has Cain in the lead among the Repubs. Seems like all this has not hurt him that much.

Yup , and I think this really helps destroy any credability of these women should they choose to change their minds once again, and come forward at a later date as he rises even further in the poll.

Nice try though losers .

Trial ballon guys. Just to test the winds.

I smell desparation. Cornered rats get mean.
And the left is most definitely cornered

This is only the begining.

If this was an organized effort to discredit Cain I more suspect it came from the right than the left.
Makes no sense for the left to go to these extremes at this juncture.

It might have to do with the fact that if they say anything that is slanderous, he has hired lawyers to fight back.

Could be, but it also could be that the left see's Cain as the only one to give them trouble in 2012. Getting Cain out now would make sense and dealing with the others left in 2012 would be easy. It is easier to stop someone before they get rolling. I am just commenting on the strategy. I have no idea on who I would vote for as to me it is way to early to decide.

Obama campaign history is early attacks. IL state, US Senate (Ryan) & POTUS kicking out Hillary on delegate counts in June, well before the Denver apologizing partyfest.

For what it's worth, this little scandal (if you can even call it that) is likely to be the only real trouble the left will be able to produce going all the way to election day.

Romney has been vetted for years and is squeaky clean, just like his hair. And the buzz about Gingrich's many wives is old news. And presuming Perry and the rest of the pack are out of contention, that leaves the Republican candidates dirt and mud free sailing into the general election.

What fun is that?

Certainly not hurting when you look at his fundraising numbers...

WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Republican Herman Cain has raised $9 million for his presidential nomination bid since Oct. 1, campaign officials said Thursday.
The campaign said the amount is nearly double the amount raised from May through September. Twenty-five percent of the $9 million has come in over the last 10 days, despite allegations of sexual harassment that have figured prominently in news reports.

The unexpected benefit of all this is that Newt has jumped in the polls. Cain has lost ground with republican women but gained in other areas. Lots of folks are tired of smear campaigns period and want to send a message to the party heads.

Too bad we can't meld Romney, Gingrich and Cain. What a perfect candidate.

Romney for the business sense, Cain for the folks and Gingrich for the Washington know-how. And truth be known, Gingrich is probably the only one that can whip Obama in seven Lincoln-Douglas style debates.

Obama and his handlers are many things, but completely stupid they are not. I seriously doubt we'll see any
Lincoln-Douglas style debates next year; teleprompters are nearly useless in that environment!

I hate to break to you guys but Cain doesn't get more than 40% in the current polls against Obama. The only one that gets better is Romney who comes out about 46% either way get ready for Obama for 4 more years unless someone that doesn't come off as either nuts or with no principles to the majority of voters that carry these things. You know the middle not the far right or left.

The Republican Field-
Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are the top picks when it comes to key foreign policy characteristics.
Republican primary voters say Mitt Romney is the candidate most qualified to be commander-in-chief (26%), followed by Newt Gingrich (21%) and Herman Cain (11%).
But Newt Gingrich is the candidate Republicans most trust to handle an international crisis(31%), followed by Romney (19%) and then Cain (8%)

Actually the one in the field with the foreign affairs credentials is Huntsman. He worked as a White House staff assistant for Ronald Reagan, and he was appointed by George H.W. Bush as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce and later as United States Ambassador to Singapore from 1992–1993. Huntsman served as Deputy United States Trade Representative under George W. Bush, launching global trade negotiations in Doha, Qatar in 2001 and guiding the accession of China and Taiwan into the World Trade Organization.

Huntsman has also served as CEO of his family's Huntsman Corporation and was elected Governor of Utah in April, 2004 and won re-election in 2008 with nearly 78% of the vote. While governor, he also served as chairman of the Western Governors Association and as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Governors Association. On August 11, 2009, he resigned as governor to accept an appointment as the United States Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.

Obama won and IMO had zero qualifications both foreign or domestic , so I aint counting anyone out. Its still far to early in my book for anyone to make any serious predictions, so until it gets closer to the elections that is just your opinion Joe, which holds no more water in my book then these polls.

Ah what did Huntsman's qualifications have to do with predictions? At this point I can only go by the polls which change by the second and agree it is to early.

The credibility of women has been questioned since the beginning of time. The fact that that is still the case in 2011 doesn't surprise me. Disappointing...yes, surprising...NO. Some things never change and that one thing...(in my opinion) is the male mentality regarding we females.

Women have never been able to tell the truth without consequences and that pisses me off big time. You rape us we have to explain what we did to cause it...gimme a break!

I have a great deal of respect for men in general and most of those whom I've come across, loved or shared my life with in some capacity.
I guess it's not the same for all women, however.

Of course we have, or at least.. some of us have.:flowers:

As for rape--Men commit that crime because they are messed in the head, a woman NEVER causes a man to rape her. Ever.

That's all well and good, but the fact remains that the male poplulation for the most part has no respect for the female and i for one...am rather disgusted and tired of it.

I am sorry you feel that way, really I am.
Do you consider yourself a feminist, or do you subscribe to that thought?

Ohhh noooo, not from my own gender!
I am sorry you feel that way, really i am.

I consider myself an independent thinker, a woman that isn't afraid to say what she thinks for fear that someone might not like what i have to say. Nor am i a chameleon that is so worried about being liked by everyone they lack the courage to voice their own thinking. Now, those are the ones that i feel sorry for. Ever heard the saying: I think, therefore i'm single...

PirateGirl, PLEASE do not feel sorry for the way i feel or assume my thinking, regarding this matter, is because of any personal tragedy...that is not the case.

"I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a door mat or a prostitute."

that's probably one of the most intellectualy dishonest things I've herd in a long time, and honestly has NOTHING to do with what's going on with Cain.
Regardless of gender it's the responsability of the accuser to provide proof or credibility and motive comes into question.

That's like saying "the fact remains the the female population for the most part are gold diggers" Look at the women who accuse pro sports players of rape just for the money.
