Geez is two cents enough??

I was shocked that the Post Office is only going to ask for a .02 cents per stamp raise. It just seems to me they have to make up for some past loses. I was thinking more along the lines of maybe ten cents per stamp and some personnel cuts or job mergers.

Post Office

WASHINGTON – The post office wants to increase the price of a stamp by 2 cents to 46 cents starting in January. The agency has been battered by massive losses and declining and faces a financial crisis.

Andy Rooney video but look at the suggestions below the article. Some are from PO employees and good.

Well 2 cents spread over a whole nation of people buying stamps could equal a lot of money. Just look at the income for a toll road in many states. S. Florida's toll roads that ended just before you got much past Palm Beach County with the exception of the Turnpike which is free after Wildwood Florida, paid for most of the road construction for the state over the years.

I understand that but don't still don't think it is enough. I think they could have asked for more without it dropping any volume.

I have no problem with them taking more either. Even at a $1 per letter it is still pretty amazing how fast they can get a letter across the country in a day or two. Now this morning my wife went to buy a roll of stamps, he took her money and never gave her the stamps. She asked and he claimed he gave them to her, so she thought well maybe looked in her purse no stamps. It took an extra 20 minutes till she got the roll she paid for.

$1.00 is realistic. I don't know why they bother with penny increases. Just make it a buck and get it over with. With Email - and on-line paying of bills - who uses first class postage anymore.
On the second part of your post Joe, that reminds me of when I got a call years ago from the video rental store. "You have not returned the video XXXXX" I said oh yes I did! The girl said - "well we don't have it - go check your car and see if it's there." I said: "I will NOT check my car because I have a distinct memory of returning that video. I suggest YOU recheck the store."
A while later - she called back and said an employee took it home.. and everything is ok.

Here's the deal.... Since my wife and I have split.. I think I have bought 2 stamps PERIOD. I do EVERYTHING online. I write a rent check and one to my sis since my personal cell is now on her plan... I hand deliver both of those. I am why the system is failing. The money I save on postage alone can probably buy me a six pack a month...:whistling:

I get more checks sent by regular mail every month than other methods of payment. Now we accept credit card over the phone for our tenants as well as auto payments monthly as well. Now we also mail out a $100 worth of mail a month on average between invoices (by request only), late notices, pre-lien letters (45 days past due) or lien notices that have to be sent by registered mail and signed for. We have always had auto pay and phone pay by credit cards but most still choose to pay using mail even the bank paying accounts mail checks through the postal system.

I’m old and old fashioned.
I put a forever stamp on my mail that I bought last year.
The rate increase does not affect the forever stamp’s cost.

LOL! The XXXX was a filler for the name of the video. Wasn't porn. I just don't remember the title.

Actually, I kind of think the Postal service needs to straighten out their internal waste problems before they raise the rates. After that, they will be able to determine how much they actually need.

I have been getting better service from priority mail than UPS or Fed-ex lately. Hell I ordered 2 bolts for my bush hog from Mississippi last Thursday and UPS will not have them here till Friday. They picked them up on the second of July. That is really poor as they charged $15 for shipping. Damn bolts are going to cost me $50 and I still cant cut a week later.:hammer::hammer:
