This kid is from the Mpls area. It was on the Today Show. I can't get the link to go directly to it so once your there click on 9 year old chooses amputation.

What a tough choice he had to make. Tough for the whole family, but I think all would agree it was probably the best choice of his alternatives.
At least now he'll be able to walk.
