Ford C-4 cooler fittings

I have new C-4 trans cooler adapter fittings that don’t want to go in easily.
I ordered new 3/8” NPS to AN-6 adapter fittings. They appear different from the cooler fittings already in place. I can’t say if they’re stock or not.
Are there different sized C-4 cooler fittings?

I did a bunch of research on this and most info said C-4 cooler hookups need NPS fittings, that NPT fittings could crack the case.
I’m not familiar with these requirements and would appreciate any help.
Thanks very much,

On my FMX it used 1/4” NPT fittings; your thread pattern looks more like 3/8” SAE ORing Boss possibly, NPS male has a chamfer on the end...

That last pic shows me a Chamfer?...Not to make it less clear...but that might be NPSM... see if you can’t figure out your Threads per inch and compare it to the 2 pics and see which one matches...

…. it gets quite confusing on all the sizes; threads, pitches, etc....sometimes it's just as easy to go to a good hydraulic supply shop ; to match things up,...they usually have all the books to help, etc.... with all your old parts , and the new ones you want to convert to ( yes, that's cheating ...:thumbup ) ……...

My local hydraulic shop couldn’t identify the fitting...they thought it was metric Oh well, I’ll have to drive an hour in to Tacoma when I need more help.
I got O-Rings for the ORB side. The flare side of the fitting also had O-Rings- kind of chewed up. I found some info online that said that old Ford trucks have been known to have O-Rings in the flare side of the fittings on the trans cooler. Here’s a picture of the fitting next to a new 5/16 line coupler to compare.
Any experience with flare fitting O-Rings?

Thanks,

………. can't say that I recall running into your scenario. I wonder if someone stuck those in to stop a leak from a faulty fitting of some kind. usually with a ''bevel'' flare, it's a ''tapered'' compression interference fit, to seal. do you have pics of the opposite side of these fittings, and of the ends of the lines they ''mate'' up to,......

I have seen this arrangement years ago.
The O rings generally look like what you pulled out.

If the tube moves at all (Rotates on the seat) the O ring will suffer

The JIC fitting for use with braided high pressure hose is the ticket..... (Picture back a ways at post #9)

I intend to go that route on my TH350.

Hard lines are just a pain, and are more subject to breakage due to vibration, flex etc.
