Dont know who he is.
McCain went and solicited an endorsement from a conservative tele-evangelist, in my opinion in an attempt to pick up votes from that portion of the electorate.

Turns out McCain can't tell the evangelical denominations apart any better better than he can tell Shia from Sunni. He picked a loser.

NYTimes
[Rev Hagee] argued that biblical verses made clear that Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust was part of God’s plan to chase the Jews from Europe and drive them to Palestine. "...they the hunters should hunt them,” arguing this referred to “the Jews.” He went on to read from the same passage, “From every mountain and from every hill and from out of the holes of the rocks.”
“If that doesn’t describe what Hitler did in the Holocaust, you can’t see that,” Mr. Hagee said."

At roughly the same time Mr. McCain’s campaign issued a statement repudiating Mr. Hagee on Thursday, Mr. Hagee himself put out a statement saying he had withdrawn his endorsement of Mr. McCain.
Added: Today was the second fuss with Hagee. The first was over Hagee's claims that the Catholic Church was ...uh less than reputable. Here's one of many cites, including audio of Hagee.. Hagee Roundup .

McCain should have never solicited this idiot's support. What was he thinking???

I suspect his advisors told him the evangelicals gave Bush the margin he needed to win, so McCain should go out and court them too. But choosing this loser certainly reveals a poor sense of strategy.
