It's interesting how the 1743's seem to be all over the map in term of price.

For example this machine sold for $14K.

Last fall, at another Ritchie Brothers auction, and also in Wasilla, AK, a 1743 sold for $22K.

Nearly identical machines: Both 1980 models, both had Detroit Diesel 4-53 engines, Allison Automatic transmissions and Warn 8274 winches. One had 1,639 hours and the other had 1,651.

And we had the IronPlanet auction in North Dakota last December where yet another 1980 1743 went for $7,750. (1,460 hours and the same Detroit/Allison/Warn combination) http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=72838

I'm at a loss to rationally explain the price differences. I guess it's the vagaries of auctions...
