I've drunk my fair share of cowboy coffee over the years. There's nothing better on a chilly fall morning. I must admit though that I did get lazy and started bringing and using instant coffee. It's just so much easier, especially after a guy I knew got a real bad stomach bug presumably from the water that he used to settle the grounds. Well, that's what he put it down to but then again, he was wading waist deep in the river all day as well.

My brother made cowboy coffee every day in a sauce pan on the stove top.

He had a nice Kuerig but it just sat there gathering dust!

French press coffee. Except using cold water instead of the press.

I have one fireproof one for the bonfire or the propane stove and another for the kitchen. One huge advantage is you can make a half cup or a full pot. It doesn't matter.

My dad called this sheepherder coffee, he was a herder during the depression for a summer and claimed sheepherders only topped up. Never poured out the grounds. But he claimed a lot of things.

I've tried it once. Now I drink only espresso, every morning, and I can't imagine life without it. I don't understand people who don't like coffee, it's wonderful)
