SOLD

Selling my 1959 Tucker 222 Kitten. S/N 159642. Motor # S107812F. Hour meter shows 461 hours but I do not believe it is correct. It needs a battery and the mechanical fuel pump rebuilt or replaced. I have a kit and at least 1 additional mechanical fuel pump but today's gasoline ruins the rubber diaphram and valves in a very short time. I would convert it to an electric pump. The pictures show the left hand track split for access to the fuel pump. I have replaced the original glass bowl sediment filter with an in line filter because it leaked. I have the old glass bowl. I have added a carburetor air filter although it may not have had an air filter. Other than that it is 100% original with the Ford Anglia motor and drive train. I have a few old track rollers and links. The head lights need to be rewired. The original gauges are there and working but you cannot see them in the pictures due to glare. Someone added the 2nd oil pressure gauge. The sweeps were added by a previous owner and it appears that it once had a small plow mounted on the front and the body springs were eliminated. The in tank fuel level float is stuck. 3 different paint colors can be seen - orange, reddish orange, and blue. The sno cat is currently located in Cobden Illinois 62920. $8500. Additional pictures may possibly be found on this site under GYPSY.

Re: WTS 1959 Tucker Kitten 222

Perhaps it is just obscured in the photos, but I don't see a clutch pedal. Does a Snow Kitten use a fairly conventional manual transmission and brake steer driveline, or something different?

Re: WTS 1959 Tucker Kitten 222

This a summary of questions that have been asked by phone.

This Kitten has the original Ford Anglia manual transmission with 3 forward and 1 reverse gears. The clutch pedal is visible in the pictures. There is also a "foot feed" and dash mounted throttle. It has a dash mounted economizer which is basically a 3 position choke set dependent on engine temperature and altitude. It steers using the 2 steering clutch levers on either side of the gear shift lever. Pull part way back and the clutch for that particular track disengages and that track free wheels. Pull farther back and a brake sets to lock that track. The electrical system is 12 volt positive ground. It is a 2 seater with the gear shift and steering levers between the occupants and the clutch and foot operated throttle on the left side. It has a heater/defroster that uses warm coolant from the radiator and a 12 volt fan. Each door has a sliding window. There is a small area behind the seat back for storage of tools/spare parts/stuff. The structure around the cab is not a roll bar but sweeps that serve to deflect tree branches and act as a roof rack. A roll bar would do nothing in snow but sink. The track tension is adjusted by bending the track links. Nose mounted track adjustors came on later models. The final drive sprockets do show some wear but are serviceable. When the time comes they could be reversed or built up by welding. This is currently not needed.

Thanks to all who have shown interest.
