Man, that does look bad. At least the truck had some size to it. Do all vehicles up there have air bags?

Not in a truck like this. His steering wheel was bent from the impact of his head hitting it

Surprising enough, big semi trucks like that have very little protection for the driver and passenger. The cabs and engine cowlings are very light weight fiberglass and aluminum to maximize payload.

Yes. Dad was a log truck driver for close to 40 years. He had a few bad accidents over the years. Of course they hauled 100% bush roads and had way more than just traffic and weather to deal with. Often they drove over. Snowpacked bush roads with barely a skim of light sand in the worst corners. They became experts at riding the snowbanks around most of the corners. Quite often they'd be spun out on the hills with loads pushing 70k lbs as there were no restrictions on the bush roads surrounding how much they could haul. A load of 8ft was quite often humped up a few feet over the height of the 8 ft tall pickets in the trailer. They had heavy duty cab shields to protect the cab.

Dad once rolled one on its roof and even with the cab shield the roof of the cab was crunched down level with the hood.
