how come? twice its happened now.
A: can I recover them?
B: how come my computer hates me?
C: Why did I let that kid install Firefox in the first place?
PS.. I cashed out some vacation pay to cover some stuff (see other thread) and I got a couple $$ left over, so I need someone to remind me to get a new keyboard.

Eric,
Is it telling you it lost the profile? If so you can recover the old ones but then will lose the new ones you put in since you lost the original ones.

It hasn't "told me" anything... everything seems normal till I wanna look at my bookmarks, ...and they're not there.
When firefox was first installed, it recognised all my old IE bookmarks...probably a couple hundred.
a week or so ago, they all dissapeared, oh well, I didn't need all of 'em anyway, I can find those sites again. at about this point I added 2 bookmarks to sites I frequent.
last night I noticed they were gone again...:confused2:
I think my profile is intact... It seems to remember all my settings, home page, etc :confused2:
Thanks,
Eric
Maybe this will help. If you can get the bookmarks under control, Firefox really is a much better browser. Been using it for a long time now and would never change.

If that doesn't help there are some forums that could help.

Shut Firefox down. Then go to Start/Run and type in "firefox.exe -ProfileManager" Once there see if you have mutliple profiles. If so you may get back to an older profile and be able to re-create or hook into your older ones. I had the same proble before when running 1.5, since I upgraded to 2.0 I have not had the problem. But when I did have the problem I just went back and searched for my original profile.
Here is a good link also. Managing Profiles. (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile) Once at that page you can click on other options. Hope this helps you.

ps: I am not an expert on Firefox so if you not sure, don't do it. Disclaimer I guess.

Eric,
JayC has some good stuff above also. My problems may be different that yours. Are you on 1.5 or 2.0. If 2.0 then JayC's information may be the better of the two. Check them both out.
