I've been using Ixquick. They make the same claim to privacy. Duckduck seems a little slow to me.

I've been using Cocoon for a proxy and Ghostery to block the ad trackers. Doesn't matter which search engine you choose to use when using Cocoon as the search takes place from their servers and not yours. Staying anonymous today requires using several products/services in conjunction. And then you're only hiding what you do today, no way to go back and remove the years of data that has been accumulated on each of us.
