Mexican Heart Attack Platter: deep fried pork belly

Apparently this is a Mexican snack, something I'm not familiar with. They take a pork belly, skin, fat layer and bacon layer, and drop it in the deep fryer, cook it until its crunchy on the outside, and gooey goodness on the inside. This stuff is a heart attack on a platter. And its free for the snacking here in the cigar lounge for today only.

One of our regular brought it in to share. Get it while you can.

that stuff is fried pseudo-bacon. fried pork stomach-fat. delicious. very.

We call them pork rinds. They are good! The bacon ones are even better. More than anything the sodium is real high in them.

This is more than just the rind. It includes the rind + a layer of fat + the bacon layer too.
