Hi again
the winter is closing up on or tail here in Norway:whistle:
And i need to mount an winch on my Snow Trac, but it aint easy to get an winch that run on 6V, so i desided to convert to 12v, but i think i`ve read that, 12v starter do not fit, is it possible to mount an 12v starter-relay on a 6v starter?? Anyone who have tryed this??:confused2:

I use a 12 volt battery on my tractor with a 6 volt starter all the time. Spins a little faster and works better if you ask me.

Either: Add a 2nd Alternator-OR- Convert to 12 Volt.
If you go to "VARIATOR" in this Forum there is an explination of how to do the Starter conversion and what is involved. Aktiv/Westermaskiner used a 6 Volt Starter on a 12 Volt system for some years. It's under section 11 & 12.

-Tor Yes, but none of the fun things to see/do are in North Dakota, Minnesota or Wisconsin!!! :yum:
Can you give us a list of the cities you will be visiting in those states? It would be easier for us to give you recommendations of places to visit if we knew what part of each state you will be in. You must realize that our 'states' in the US are about the same size an a medium size country in Europe so some of the distances between places may be too long to travel to see something that we recommend.

Visit this website for information (in Norwegian) about tourism in North Dakota
http://www.ndtourism.com/International/index.asp?Lang=Norway
Here is information on Minnesota: http://www.exploreminnesota.com/Scenic_Byways.html
I actually spend some time in Wisconsin, but mostly in the southern 1/3rd of the state. The Lake Geneva/East Troy area (http://www.lakegenevawi.com/) (about 90 minutes west of Milwaukee) is a nice area. Its gotten pretty commercial, but the area is still nice to visit, shop, great golf courses and some nice resorts.
Farther north is the American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin (http://www.destinationkohler.com/hotel/tac/tac_index.html). A very nice place to visit!
For general Wisconsin information: http://www.travelwisconsin.com/
We have a very famous architect by the name of Frank Lloyd Wright who had his headquartes in Wisconsin and has many buildings. He is one of the most influential architects in the nation and you may find a visit to some of his sites worth the visit. http://www.wrightinwisconsin.org/

Also, near Wright's Taliesin which is in Spring Green, is another major tourist destination called the House on the Rock also located in Spring Green, Wisconsin. You might want to visit there also. http://www.thehouseontherock.com/

Tor,
What kind of things do you like to see. I am from Minnesota and my wife is from North Dakota. Give me an idea of things you like and I will try and come up with some things for you to see. Bob had a link to Explore Minnesota which is a pretty good link. Looks like your coming in September, how long will you be staying. The river valleys around here are great in the fall during the changing of the leaves.

Hi
Thank you for all this information, i really appreciate it!!:a1:
Im stayin i USA for 3 weeks (would stay longer if i could)
Its not easy to say what i`m intrested in, but it`s every thing from cars/tractors (an Snow mobiles of course), to nice places, like those who i find in those links you posted.
But something i find interesting is meeting and get to know new people.
How is it with pubs in these states??
Any nice beer? We norwegians have an own love for beer!!:burp:

You will find lots of beer in Wisconsin!!! Every small town has a dozen neighborhood "taverns" "taps" or "bars" (what we call pubs).
If you like cars and historical exhibts, please take a look at The House on the Rock. It has collections of antique cars, machinery, etc. It is a 'tourist trap' but still worth a visit and you can spend a day looking at everything there.
You may also want to check into the "festivals" in the areas you will be driving through. In the fall months there are often many festivals that occur, they typcially last for 3 to 5 days and often are a lot of fun. If you are going through an area that has a large festival, taking 1 day to enjoy the festival is worth the effort. The websites probably will have listings of area festivals.
