How do you backup your email?

In another thread, http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=44279 I asked how I could move Thunderbird mail folders to a cd/dvd/external hard drive in order to clean up my hard.

I did not get a lot of responses, so thinking I may have not asked the question correctly, let me re-phrase it.

For those of you using Thunderbird, how do you back up your email? I have several years of email on this PC and need to unload it as well as back it up.

I use GMail online, so I don't do backups, but you can use this utility to export all of your emails to individual text files.

Just skip the last part where you import the files into Outlook, and just use an archiving program like 7-Zip to compress the files and burn them to DVD if you want.
