HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — It has taken a Pennsylvania brewery only a couple of hours to sell 400 bottles of a limited edition brew at $22.95 apiece.
Beer lovers began lining up outside Troegs Brewing Company in Harrisburg the night before Thursday's special sale of the 25-ounce bottles of Splinter Blue beer.
The beer was aged in oak bottles for more than a year before being bottled. The brewery says Splinter Blue has "a sharp acidic cherry flavor, followed by a doughy cereal-like finish."
Brewery co-owner Chris Trogner says people came from New Jersey, Maryland and even Massachusetts to buy a bottle.
He says the limited edition beer is part of the experimentation process. He says if people really like it, they might make it again sometime.
