Rumsfield resign?

Wow. Even I would never have predicted this. A CNN poll asked viewers, should Donald Rumsfield resign? They just announced the vote total, from phone calls and emails.

Now, I know that some of you feel that CNN is part of the Liberal Axis of Evil, but one would think there were at least one or two administration defenders out there willing to put in a token, if futile, vote. After all, President Bush recently said that Rumsfield is "doing a dandy job".

The results -- just announced (11:00 PM Sunday) -- 100% (One Hundred Percent) (Every single call and Email) (unanimous) said that Rumsfield should resign.

That's an incredible vote, even for a station which sees few conservative viewers.

I don't see where his resigning is going to accomplish anything and in the end, it might be even harder to find someone to take his place since the Department of Defense is in such turmoil. I do see him being pardoned by the President of any crimes that he might have committed while in office if he does resign or at the end of the term. It will be very interesting to see who the President grants pardons to when his term is about to expire. I can even see him pardoning some of his buddies at ENRON. After all, he was an oil man before he was a President....

First of all I do not believe any poll by CNN. Second of all I feel he is doing a good job. So let me ask any of you this. When has CNN ever called you or polled you? I have never been polled. They probrably went to a pro professor Church ralley and asked 100 people there what they thought about Rumsfield. WHO and WHERE DID THEY POLL ARE MY QUESTIONS? Without that information polls are a complete joke.

I would trust CNN reporting over your biased and opinionated posts any day....Junk, that's a little strong. We're all a little biased and opinionated. Where he goes wrong is that he is also deeply misinformed and either doesn't read carefully, or has a reading comprehension problem.

My message said nothing about CNN conducting a poll where they call and ask questions. I clearly stated that CNN invited viewers to call CNN and answer the question. At the end of the program, they were astounded to report that 100% of the people who had called in said that Rumsfield should resign. There is no possible way that CNN could have affected the results. As I clearly stated in my message (which S.O. was apparently unable to comprehend), it's extremely difficult to believe that in the millions of people watching the program, there was not one person who would defend Mr. Rumsfield. As almost everyone knows, the question was generated by the reports from six former military generals who have retired since this action began, and are now beginning to speak out about what a crummy job Rumsfield has done.

Apparently, however, there is one person in the nation who still thinks that Rumsfield is doing a good job, except he wasn't watching CNN that night.

I only watch CNN Airport version and, thankfully, I have not been in an airport in the last couple of weeks. I do get a kick out of how far off from my world reality their reality is. I also get a kick out of going to CNN.com and FoxNews.com and comparing their polls. It seems that they both have a similar question out at similar times. It's amazing with the millions of people viewing their sites on the internet that the poll results are never close in their results. Hmm...

If that was a call-in poll the results would be very un-scientific, to say the least. Everyone here is intelligent enough to know that polls are rarely un-biased one way or another. The show that this poll took place during would definitely lead the results one way or another. Do the same poll during Bill O'Reiley's show and you'd probably get the opposite result (or maybe not).

Personally I look at polls as a pure source of entertainment. That is their only value.

Still, the anchor person on CNN was a flabbergasted as I was: there were NO dissenting calls. Heck, even on O'Reilly, you'd get someone like me calling in just to put a clinker in their results.

I happen to like The O'Reilly Factor. I loved it when he debated the goofy comic the left has for their radio spokesperson; Franken. :applause: Franken is about as annoying as Michael Moore. I'm glad they have not said one thing that amounts to something intelligent between the two of them. It seems that people have lost interest in their comic abilities. Ha!

I actually listened to, and called in to, the Alan Colmes show when he was on our AM radio several years ago. He used to have something quite witty where he allowed the caller only one sentence. It was funny that most all of the people who called in didn't know what a sentence was! :yum: I can't stand Limbaugh but like Liddy quite well. I've honestly never heard Coulter, so I have no opinion on her other than she seems easy on the eyes but a bit thin.

No, I enjoy listening to the actual news and making my own decisions. That is precisely why I laugh at CNN. They are about as non-biased as Kennedy is sane and Farrakhan is moderate! My local news channel I prefer puts a bit of a left slant on the news, but still reports actual facts. CNN will make up "facts" when needed. :eek:

I don't believe in any poll. Polls/surveys are slated to go the way one would want them to go. You can ask questions in ways to make people vote your way. I think even a lot of the stuff posted here about politics is slated one way. I even find myself guilty at times. I vote both sides but in a tie I vote Republican which leads me to believe the Republicans before I believe the democrats if this is the two parties we are talking about. CNN had the 100% because that is their audience. If Fox or Newsmax had that same poll it would be the other way around. Our own poll here was not like CNN's.

Just my opinion. Now I must go home to Lillith :whistle:

(Sigh) OK, you guys have convinced me. There were absolutely no Rumsfield supporters watching CNN when they asked the question, or, the Rumsfield supporters had no access to a telephone. Or, there was a conspiracy so that anyone who wanted to call to support Rumsfield got a busy signal. The telephone company knows these kinds of things, you know -- they can read our minds.

Also, you've convinced me that the question was biased and too difficult to understand. The question was, "Should Rumsfield resign?" I understand that question may seem slanted towards Liberals who will always call for such a resignation. In fact, the question was so obviously biased, that those Rumsfield supporters who were wearing tinfoil caps (so the phone company couldn't read their minds) were swayed by the question and answered in the affirmative even though they didn't believe it.

Yep, that's the ticket, CNN set the whole thing up (with the connivance of the phone company) so the results would be loaded. Why didn't I think of that?
