The mother of a very dear friend of mine is having a mastectomy and I wanted to prepare lots of heat and serve stuff for the patient and family.

I'm reading that to enhance recovery, high calorie foods that are not processed are the best.

For the family, it seems easy comfort food would be in order.

Any suggestions or recipes? Lolita, I need your help!

First of all Jim, I'd avoid foods that are in any way enhanced with hormones.
Stick to foods that are high in protein/low in fat.
Lots of vegetables and fruits, nuts, legumes, pasta, rice..
Raw foods would probably be the best bet for a while with concentration on carbs for energy.
She needs to be fed well in order to help in the recovery process.
I know about cancer battles and recovering from that type of surgery on a personal level.
;)
