My Savage 99 is kinda gummed up. I got it from the guy who bought it new in 1956. It only had 3 rounds thru it...
I have put a couple boxes thru it. I cleaned the bore, and outside of the action. But it really needs a good cleaning. I do not have a manual though. Searching the web, people say do not mess with the rotary magazine; it is a great working mag, but a bear to reassemble.
Anyone here with any experience with these?

I do not have a manual though.
You do now... Click HERE (http://stevespages.com/pdf/savage_99sf.pdf)
If that's not the one, there's other manuals on THIS (http://stevespages.com/page7b.htm) page.
i have one and love it had to dissassemble it when i got it and clean as i remember it was quite easy as far as the rotary mag its all metal i would hose it with brake cleaner blow it out with air soak it in good gun oil like break free than blow out all excess with comperssed air and you should be good for another 20 years.

I have not gotten past cleaning the bore. Busy taking care of Grandma and her care since her broken leg. She's 97, and was still working a couple days a week. Cabin fever... Off to aqua therapy today.
