How to crop mpeg video??

I have a home video that is about a minute and a half long. I only need/want about 30 seconds of it. How can I crop the video?

My son uses Windows movie maker....heres a link for a free download....(it's for XP but if you use another system then say and i will look for a link).

Thanks! I think I use Vista but I am not sure... <-- that is how computer incompetent I am.

I have it on my Vista machine, not sure about the XP laptop

i prefer to use VidCrop for that
