Some of my older pistols have night sights that are getting dim or are flat out. I've been looking at what some of the better night sights are. Several guys told me that they strongly prefer the truglo sights not only for night, but for daytime. Here is their site TRUGLO (http://www.truglo.com/content/products/firearm/handgun_sights/handgun_sights.asp)

Any thoughts?

I think the Beretta I just bought has TruGlo's. I will check this evening. They are the tritium though.

I guess I should have been a bit more specific :bonk: I'm talking about the fiber optic sights that also have tritium in them. I think I'm going to go ahead and have them installed in a Glock 29 I own today. The guys I have spoken to rave about how much better they are in daylight. With my, um, advancing age I will take all the better visual cues I can get. :smileywac

I think BigDog put a set of Tru Glo sights on one of his pistols. I don't know if he put the tritium dot/fiber optic.

I have regular tritium sights on some of my newer guns, they are pretty nifty. Don't do anything to help me hit my target but I can see the sights better when the sun is fading.

Well, I got them installed on my Glock 29. Here is a picture of them installed. I think you can see where they are more visable even in daylight; at least for someone like me whose vision seems to be fading.

Do they just slide into place? How does the front one install, that doesn't look like a dovetail front sight. Do they make those for real guns or just tupperware guns? :hide:

They apparently make them for Glock, Sig, H&K, Kimber and Springfield. With Glocks, the rear are drift sights and the front have a hex bolt. On my H&K I likely will add them to, both the front and rear are pushed on dovetail style.

I put Williams Firesights on my Taurus, they are fiber optic only. The TRUGLO is the way to go though! Can't beat the price and they are advantageous in both day or night. I'm gonna have a couple sets put on, for a G30 and for a purty P6 I'm projecting ..............

The fiber optic sight advantage in daylight conditions is great ............

Dargo,

I looked at the website and they look pretty slick. $99 for the tritium units with fiber inserts seems like a good price, I've paid $99 for regular tritium sights.

RANGE REPORT?

So did you walk out to your range and try these sights? With your failing eyesight did you find that they helped you acquire the sight picture easier? How about some low light shooting this evening are you going to check to see how effective the Tritium is when it is buried behind the fiber inserts?

Oh and pictures of your groupings would be nice too

How's this? Shot from my little boat...

I can't seem to locate the groupings though. The recoil was a bitch!

I've got True Glow sights on my 870 super magnum turkey gun and they're the bomb!

My buddy has the same sights on his Glock 23..... I almost ordered them had my range order them today but @ $125 installed (normally $135) I decided against it.... The guy who refinished my Sig has night sights for $65 installed right now so I think I'm gonna go that route.

Is it worth twice the price to get the fiber optic/tritium?????

They can be had for $90 and IMHO their worth it for both day and night. Find a shop that will install for the purchase.

DAMN YOU DARGO . . . I want to try those sights on one of my guns.

So what do I do, I contact Tru-Glo and tell them I have a gun with a standard Gov' Model rear sight cut and a 60 degree Heine cut in the front. They reply that they don't have that set available. Duh! I figure I need a front sight from one set and a rear from a different set but their reply was obviously a 'canned' response. I hate when people can't think out of the box.
