I want to refinish the stock on a pump riot gun, anybody got any
ideas? Does somebody make a kit to keep it simple?

I play with one pink rifle and I get tagged forever :gay:
All I can say is it is pink and I am proud :coolshade
But as to the original topic, I've not tried this stuff, but I do get a lot of stuff from MidwayUSA and am happy with their service. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=115652

That's what I was looking for Bob, thanks!

Don't know if you saw the thread, but I built a pink AR15 for my 12 year old daughter.
But I like it too!

I saw that, very cool! I once worked for Mary Kay at her mfg. plant, so my exposure to pink is not new. And no, I did not get a Cadillac.

Lately she has been asking for a pink pistol. Gander Mountain sells them. Its the Taurus Millenium Pro series, available in pink plastic, and in 32acp, 380acp and 9mm.
I'm not sure about getting her one though. I'd really like to know if I buy it in the 380acp version if a simple barrel, spring and magazine swap will turn it into a 9mm? If so, then maybe I will buy it for her in the 380 version. As she grows and is able to handle recoil better I could up her to the 9mm. I'm just worried the slide may be different and the 9mm barrel/slide may lock up differently than the 380acp barrel slide lock up.

We're getting a bit off the original topic but if RR said you already gave him what he's looking for...
To my knowledge (which doesn't say much), they're not interchangeable.
I'd probably skip the .380 and go to the 9mm. The recoil isn't bad. After about 2 boxes of .380, she would be ready to move up. 9mm is so much cheaper.
I don't recall, but I think I had my daughter shoot a 9mm Taurus. At 9 years old it was a bit much for her but at 12-13 I'd say she would be fine with it.

Bob,
How big is your daughter? My 11 year old daughter (5'1" 113 lbs.) shoots my Springfiedl XD45 (230 grain) and can handle the recoil decent. She liked shooting it and even shot a short 5 round burst but think it was a bit much for her to shoot 100 rounds through. I think a 9mm is just right. I have a .380 Makarov and she handles that with no problem. She is still waiting to shoot my AR-15 but weather has not been permitting. I like the idea of getting her a pink 9mm.

C'mon Bob - Everyone knows 9mm is a girlie caliber. She'll be fine with it.

I have used regular stripper as used for cabinets or furniture. Then sand with multiple grits of sand paper till stock is smooth. Then, use multiple coats of Tung Oil. It makes a nice tough finish on a gun stock. In between coats, I went over it with fine steel wool, wiped it clean, and put on the next coat.

I've seen, and once used a kit [stain in one bottle & a tung-oil like finish in another IIRC], kits for black power kit guns that should work fine, if you're not already done by now! :smileywac

That you behind the rifle?! A bit of "dead eye determination" in your look, think I recall you posting it in your daughter's hands; either way I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of it even if it is pink. :shiner:
If the resolution isn't playing games on me, nice photography too: looks like a shell ready to eject.

Yup, guilty as charged, that is my mug in the photo. And yes, you do have good eyes because that is a 22lr casing being ejected from the port.
We shoot the gun mostly with the Ceiner 22lr conversion kit installed. It really is a lot of fun to play with. Some people have criticized the conversion kits for poor accuracy, others for fouling the gas tube. We have not really experienced either of those issues.
The accuracy is not bench rest quality, but we shoot 22lr at ranges of about 50 yards it is easy to hit a 2" square steel plate (resetting steel target with 2" square impact points). So it is plenty accurate enough for hitting small game or varmints at modest range. I've honestly not tried it at 100 yards, but a 22lr at 100 yards, when using $9 per 500 round box bulk pack is not up to accuracy at that range anyway. As for the gas tube fouling issue some report, I was told that after every couple hundred rounds of 22lr it is best to fire off a few 223 rounds and they will blow any fouling out of the tube. It seems to work so far :)

Just get her the 9MM. Recoil is something she needs to MASTER and 9MM have low recoil anyway.

Just start her out with 1 round at a time then slowly add more.

I was just looking in the safe for paperwork. One of the stock I redid was a 10-22, about 18 years ago. The original finish was bad by the time I got it(used...). I did as mentioned above. It has bounced around behind the seat of the truck, used logs and rocks as rests etc. The Tung oil finish really holds up well. It looks nice, and is really tough. And, is easy to touch up if needed.
I have no idea what the origin of Tung oil is, but it is pretty good stuff for applications like this.

22LR conversion kit installed & resetting targets, definitely sounds like you're setup for too much fun! :thumb:
